Welcome to Piraeus
Keratsini, a picturesque area of Piraeus, is known for its lively atmosphere and rich history. The area offers excellent living conditions and played an important role in the Greek War of Independence. The Battle of Keratsini in 1827 was significant to Greece's liberation. During the Greek Revolution, Georgios Karaiskakis settled in Keratsini and built fortifications in Tabouria. A church was later built in his honour beside the Chapel of Agios Nikolaos.
Residential development began in the late 19th century, and by 1906–07 Keratsini was considered a suburb of Athens. Its growth was supported by workers employed in various industries, including the establishment of the AGET HERACLIS cement industry in 1907 and other factories in 1909. The power station, a notable example of industrial architecture, operated from 1928 to 2012.
Residents enjoy modern amenities while keeping Greek traditions alive. The area features picturesque coastal views, a variety of shops, bakeries and parks. Its side streets are filled with the aromas of Armenian specialities, kebabs and more. Its proximity to Athens and Piraeus Port provides excellent connectivity. Known for its warmth and hospitality, Keratsini is ideal for families and individuals, combining history, beauty and modern living in a truly exceptional place to call home.
